Extremely Rare Ginger Seal Pup With Blue Eyes Is Not Loved By Its Own Kind
An extremely rare ginger seal puppy has been spotted in Russia, however, experts are concerned that the unusual coloring that it has can lead it to get shunned by the seals that are living with them.
The pup was spotted in the Sea of Okhotsk.
The pup has pink flippers, blue eyes, and a ginger fur all over its body.
There is only 1 in 100,000 chance that a seal pup could be born with albinism.
The poor little pup also has an increased risk of getting rejected by its own kind because of its unusual color.
Vladimir Burkanov, a Biologist, says that the seal was found on the Tyunleny Island.
Experts named the unusually colored seal pup as “Ugly Duckling”.
The sad part about this is that there are signs that the pup is not being treated rightly.
Burkanov said:
This pup looks well fed and was very active, so its mother clearly gave it plenty of milk. Other seals don’t pay too much attention to it in a somewhat worrying manner, so something is not quite right with it. But it is not getting chased or bitten.
The seal is thought to have bad eyesight.
Dr. Burkanov believes that it is not capable of breeding.
In case the ginger seal pup gets rejected by the clan, wildlife specialists are ready to rescue it and bring it to a dolphinarium.
