New State Record: Hunters In Georgia Kill And Capture 14-Feet 700lb Alligator

Georgia hunters managed to capture a massive 14-feet 700lb alligator, which many believe is a new state record!

The massive alligator was captured by the hunters last week. Reports suggest that the massive alligator weighs over 700lbs and is over 14-feet long.

The previous record-holder is an alligator that was captured in 2013, it was around 13-feet and 10 inches in length.

Derrick Snelson, a resident of the Meriwether County, was hunting on Lake Eufaula with his Shelby, his 14-year-old daughter, and professional hunters from the Lethal Guide Service.

3 hours into their hunting trip, they saw the massive alligator laying by a lily pad.

During an interview with a local news agency, Derrick said, “None of us knew he was that big until it was over.”

He added, “We just knew he had a nice-sized head on him. We started going toward him and he went under the water and stayed gone for 45 minutes before he surfaced right in front of us and went back under.”

It took the hunters around 5 hours to catch the gator.

Derrick said the gator only stayed on the surface for around 10 seconds and would dive back again for around 45-minutes before showing up again.

Derrick continued, “We just stayed at it. Every time he would go down, I would say, “That gator is gone. He’s out of here.” Then 45 minutes later, he’d pop his head back up. That’s the good thing of going with a guide service. They’ve already seen this happen. This is only my second time going gator hunting ever.”

He added, “We finally got the big hook in him. Once we got him with the big rope, they pulled him up beside the boat, and I shot him with a crossbow bolt through the tail just to have him on a buoy in case he broke off, and we could tell where he went.”

After the long battle, Derrick got a good aim and shot the gator with a 40-Caliber Glock. The shot killed the gator.

Derrick compared the gator to a mammoth and said it was crazy to see something that huge.

Dereck plans to mount the alligator and eat it afterward.
