Skeletal Dog Found Tied Up And Left To Starve In Empty Flat In Belgium

People are horrible when it comes to taking care of their pets, and the best example for this is a pet dog that was found starving and dehydrated.

Fiona, the dog, was found tied up to a railing inside a flat in Wavre, Belgium, weighing around 7 kilograms, which is third of her normal weight.

She was rescued by the Sans Collier dog shelter where staff said that the owner had “deprived her of food and tied her to a stair railing” for a number of weeks.

The poor dog was alone in the empty flat sitting on its own poop and was in a state of hunger.

Authorities later confirmed that the pooch was in an advanced state of dehydration.

Her owner, who was not named in reports, told authorities that Fiona stopped eating after a fight with a dog.

She also said that she was planning to take the pooch to a vet.

The shelter that saved the dog is planning to file a lawsuit and civil action against the owner that they had initially paired Fiona with.

They received a complaint from a local resident that told them about the condition of the dog.

Sans Collier released a statement about the condition of the dog.

The statement said:

Fiona is slowly recovering. Her vital prognosis is still going on, but her chances are increasing day by day. Our association are taking good care of her.

The association will conduct an investigation on how to prevent situations like these in the future.

The group said:

It’s difficult because this is a dog placed by us several years ago and whose inspection had been very positive at the time. So it’s a #failure for the shelter, even if human nature alone is responsible for the situation. In the last 10 years we can count the number of failures like this on our hands compared to moving over 12,000 successful animals to a new home.

Let’s all hope that the dog will recover fast from her bad condition.
