El Paso Walmart Shooting: 25-Year-Old Mother Died While Shielding Her 2-Month-Old Son

A mother’s love is something words can’t describe, and one mother did everything to save her child when a 21-year-old shooter decided to shoot at kids and babies at the El Paso Walmart Mass Shooting.

Jordan Anchondo, a 25-year-old mother, died in the shooting while she protected her 2-month-old baby from the shooter.

Jordan is one of the 20 people that were killed in the El Paso Walmart Mass Shooting.

Reports suggest that Jordan was shopping for the back-to-school supplies when the 21-year-old gunman entered the shop and open fired with an AK-47 on Saturday afternoon.

Leta, the 19-year-old sister of Jordan, said that her sister fell on the tot after being shot while she tried to protect her 2-month-old son from the open fire.

Leta said, “From the baby’s injuries, they said that more than likely my sister was trying to shield him. So, when she got shot she was holding him and she fell on him, so that’s why he broke some of his bones.”

She added, “He pretty much lived because she gave her life.”

Leta also said that her brother-in-law, Andre Anchondo, hasn’t called her since the shooting happened, she fears that he might be amongst the 20 dead people.

Jordan and Andre lived in El Paso and celebrated their first wedding anniversary last week.

The couple has two daughters and a 2-month-old son, who is recovering from the injuries he sustained from the incident.

Patrick Crusius, the 21-year-old shooter, uploaded a manifesto in a forum and said that he targeted Hispanics in the shooting.

CCTV images and footages revealed that the man wore a dark shirt, ear protectors, and had an AK-47 gun during the shootout.

Ryan Mielke, a spokesman for the University Medical Center of El Paso, said that 13 people were brought into the hospital with injuries, in which one person passed away.

2 out of the 13 injured brought to the hospital were children, who have been transferred to the El Paso Children’s Hospital.

According to Victor Guerrero, the spokesperson of the DSMC, 11 other victims are being treated at the Del Sol Medical Center.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family members of the deceased and the injured.
