A 26-year-old hero mother passed away after she threw herself in front of a vehicle in order to save her 2-year-old son and her husband.

Anastasia Lyakhanova, the woman, was walking with her family to take her son to a nursery school in Russia when the incident happened.

According to reports, the incident took place in the Nizhny Novgorod Region of Russia.

It was said that a  67-year-old man lost control of his Hyundai vehicle overtaking in heavy snow when it came in the way of the kids.

Anastasia saw the oncoming  vehicle and dived in front of her husband and child to take the full force of the impact.

The husband of the woman cried over the body of Anastasia after she passed away at the scene.

If convicted in the in the crime, the driver could possible spend 5 years in prison .

Her selfless act helped her save the lives of her husband and their little child.

After her selfless act, the woman died on the spot.

The incident happened last week.

Her husband and son were reported as safe after the incident.

Passerby’s stopped at the scene to help out the woman, however, she was later pronounced dead at scene.

The driver of the  vehicle was overtaking and did not see the family walking along the side of the road when the incident happened.

The driver, who was not named for privacy reasons, is currently facing a charge of negligence causing death, which has a 5 year prison sentence in the country.

A criminal investigation is currently underway.
