India triumphed with glorious wins in the World University Games on Wednesday. Nation’s star athlete Inderjeet Singh won gold medal on Wednesday adding one more gold medal to the medals list.

Indian athletes are ascending with remarkable wins at the World University Games. Wednesday proved to be a great day for the nation as Inderjeet Singh won Gold Medal in the shot put event to open India’s gold medal account in the World University Games.
India’s medal count has been swelled to to four (one gold, one silver, two bronze) on the fifth day of competitions after men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol team won a bronze on Wednesday. Sources at the Gwangju Universiade Main Stadium claim that it was not an easy task for Asian champion Inderjeet who won the shot put event with his final throw of 20.27m.
Inderjeet Singh who is 27-year-old was at second position after his fifth and next-to-last throw on the event which was 19.80m while the ultimate throw of him with 20.27m harnessed and earned him the gold medal leaving his counterpart behind. Athlete Inderjeet Singh won silver in the last edition of World University Games played in Russia which makes his performance better than the last one.
The runner-up of Romania, Andrei Marius Gag bagged the silver with his best throw of 19.92m while the third positioned Alexander Bulanov of Russia won the bronze with 19.84m. So far this year has been a great year for this Haryana shot putter Inderjeet with five gold medals in all five international events he has participated.
Last month he won in each of the three legs of the Asian Grand Prix in Thailand and later he won Asian Championships in China with 20.41m. Haryana shot putter Inderjeet won a bronze in the Asian Games last year with 19.63m. After winning the gold medal, Inderjeet Singh said “I would like to thank the Almighty, my family and my coach Mr Pritam Singh for their support. I am looking forward to the World Athletics Championship in China next month, where I hope to better my personal best” who is being supported by Anglian Medal Hunt Company.
Behind the Russian and Korean shooters who won gold and silver, trio Achal Pratap Singh Grewal, Amarender Pal Singh Chauhan and Akshay Jain of India in men’s 25m Rapid Fire Pistol team event won the bronze medal.
