Man With Golden Heart Buys Stolen £1,300 Bike For £80 So He Can Give It Back To The Real Owner
A 26-year-old man bought a bike worth £1350 for only £80 so he can return it to the real owner.
Ste Burke, the 26-year-old man, paid £80 for the bike after he was approached by 3 men who asked him if he would buy it.
Burke said he realized that the burke was stolen when he saw that there was a bike lock on the back of the wheel.
During an interview with Metro.co.uk, Burke said, “I had just come home from the gym and I was getting my gym bag out of the back of my car to go inside my home when I was approached by 3 men carrying the bike.”
He added, “That was my first red flag, then I saw the bike lock on the back of the wheel and he wanted to sell a £1350 bike for £100. I offered him £80 and he took it.”
He continued, “So as soon as they left I put it on Twitter because I knew it wouldn’t have been stolen far away as it was locked.”
After the post went viral on Twitter, Burke was approached by a woman who said she knew the original owner of the bike.
Has anyone had their bike stolen? Just bought this for £80 and it’s got a bike lock on it. Apparently it’s from the Crosby area. Bought it so I can get it to back to the right owner. I know it’s a £1350 bike and id be heartbroken if it was me. Give us a shout 👍🏽 pic.twitter.com/uwb3iFwpx7

The woman helped the 2 contact each other through social media.
A couple of hours later, Burke and the original owner met so he could return the bike.
The man that Burke met up with had the keys to the lock, paperwork for the bike, and a receipt that proved he was the legit owner.
Burke said the owner of the bike thanked him for his kind act and explained how his bike got stolen.
Burke recalled, “He thanked me as his home was recently burgled and it’s a bit of good news for him through the hard time he’s going through.”
He added, “He told me he got paid on Friday and could he send me the money then and I said no. I told him I didn’t feel right taking money off a man who has just had his house burgled.”
After the incident, Halfords, a bike manufacturing company, reached out to Burke and offered to give him a free bike.
Burke said, “Halfords have been very kind reaching out to me, I didn’t do it for free stuff I just done it because I knew someone’s paid a lot for it.”
Stormzy, a rapper, also gave praise to Burke after hearing about his kind act.
