Natalia Escudero, a TV reporter in Spain, quit her job on air after mistakenly claiming the lottery jackpot as her name was announced as a winner of the Spanish lottery, which is the biggest lottery in the world in terms of total prize money offered.

After hearing her name, Natalia was heard screaming “I’m not coming to work tomorrow!”

But the joy of Natalia was cut short after she found out that she only won 5,000 euros out of the lottery’s total prize pot of 2.24 billion euros.

Escudero works as a national broadcaster for RTVE.

Natalia apologized for her reaction on Twitter on Tuesday and said she’s going through a difficult time for personal reasons.

Natalia said, “The last few months have been difficult for me for personal reasons, and for the first time the goddess fortune had smiled at me with a pinch.”

She added, “It is sad that Natalia Escudero is today [known as] the manipulative and lying journalist from RTVE.”

Natalia said she was honest with “I’m not coming to work tomorrow” because she is going on a holiday.

The Christmas lottery of Spain does not award as large individual prizes as those in the United States, but the amount of prize they give to ticket buyers make the lottery as the wealthiest in the world.

The Christmas lottery is an annual tradition for Spain, where families and people in Spain band together to pool money to buy tickets.

The largest sum that was awarded to an individual this year is El Gordo, The Fat One, who won 400,000 euros in a 4-million euro total top prize that was shared between 10 ticket holders.
