2 Oklahoma Police Officers Face Murder Charges For Using Taser On Naked Man 53 Times

2 police officers from Oklahoma, USA, are currently facing murder charges for using their Tasers more than 50 times on a man that refused to comply with their demands.

Wilson Police Department officers 25-year-old Joshua Taylor and 34-year-old Brandon Dingman surrendered to authorities on Thursday after being charged with second-degree murder.

Jared Lakey, a 28-year-old man, died on July 2019 after being hit with stun guns multiple times by 2 police officers.

Lakey, who is from Wilson, died 2 days after being stung by 53 Tasers, which happened on July 4, 2020.

The victim was reportedly running butt naked when they were called.

Dingman, a police officer, used his Taser 23 times for a total of 114 seconds as Lakey refused to comply with the officers’ commands.

Taylor, the second police officer, used his stun gun on Lakey 30 times in the span of 122 seconds.

Official court documents show that Lakey was stunned with a Taser for 4 consecutive minutes within a 9-minute span.

An OSBI agent wrote in court documents that Lakey did not make any aggressive move towards the 2 police officers during the incident.

Taylor and Dingman did not try to subdue the man by using their hands.

According to official reports, Lakey died after sustaining multiple heart attacks and “critical coronary atherosclerosis and law enforcement use of electrical weapon and restraint”.

An arrest warrant was released each for Taylor and Dingman on Wednesday.

The 2 police officers surrendered to the Carter County Sheriff’s Office before being released on a $250,000 bond.

It is still unclear if Dingman and Taylor are employed by the Wilson Police Department.

If convicted, the 2 police officers can spend up to 10 years to life in prison.
