Massachusetts: Veteran Missing For 1 Month Found Dead In Stairwell At VA Hospital

A 62-year-old veteran that was missing for the past 1 month was recently found dead in a stairwell at a VA hospital in Massachusetts, USA.

The dead body was found at the Bedford Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Massachusetts.

The identity of the veteran was not shared with the public, however, authorities said that he disappeared over a month ago.

The 62-year-old victim was a formerly homeless veteran that was reported missing on May 13, 2020.

He was last seen 5 days before that.

His true identity was not shared with the public.

Marian Ryan, a Middlesex District Attorney, said:

It appears that he’s been there from the eighth of May.

Ryan called the incident as very concerning.

Residents told the station some exits have been blocked off so they could contain the novel coronavirus.

Authorities are wondering if that is the reason why no one found the 62-year-old veteran in the stairwell of the VA hospital.

His housing at the medical center was provided by the Caritas Communities, a nonprofit organization that helps homeless veterans have a house to live in.

It is said that the man lived in Building 5.

Caritas operates a portion of that building under contract with the VA.

Caritas Communities said:

The stairwell where the deceased man was found was outside the lease premises of Caritas Communities, is alarmed and solely controlled by the VA.

The official cause of the 62-year-old’s death is still unknown.
