Security Guard Shot And Killed For Telling Customer To Wear Face Mask
A security guard working at a Family Dollar Store in Flint, Michigan, was shot and killed for telling a customer a face mask.
43-year-old Calvin Munerlyn, the security guard, died at a local hospital after he was shot in the head on Friday.
Lt. David Kaiser, a Michigan State Police Officer, said that the shooter and another suspect are currently on the run.
Witnesses that saw the entire incident said that Munerlyn got into a verbal altercation with a woman because she was not wearing a mask.
Genesee County prosecutor David Leyton said that the entire incident was caught on cam.
Footage also shows that the woman left in an SUV after the altercation, however, the same SUV returned.
2 men, who have been identified as Larry Teague and a 23-year-old son, Romanyea Bishop, entered the store and one of them yelled at Munerlyn about disrespecting his wife, said Leyton.
The other man shot the security guard on the head.
Tina James, the cousin of the security guard, told CCN:
This is senseless. Over a mask. Over a mask? This is not the way to do things right now. We need to come together.
Family Dollar, the store where the incident happened, did not respond to a request for comment.
