A groom in Texas suffered a gunshot wound on his chest after being shot by a guest at his own wedding party.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the bride and other witnesses of the incident are refusing to cooperate with them.
Deputies responded to gunshots on the 16800 blocks of Anna Green Street around 11.26 pm Thursday but initially, they failed to the victim.
After further investigations, he was located in a residence across the street with a gunshot wound in a critical condition.
Authorities rushed him to the Memorial Hermann Hospital via helicopter.
Deputies told news agencies that the groom is awaiting surgery and is currently in a stable condition.
Captain John Shannon said:
A groom has been shot on his wedding day. Witnesses not cooperating with responding officers. Groom was lifeflighted in critical condition.
Deputies added that 3 people, who were with the groom, were detained as they tried to draw information from witnesses.
Captain Shannon said that witnesses who saw the entire incident are uncooperative.
Despite that, an investigation is going on.
Captain Shannon said people at the house were detained until they can get their statements.
A guest at the party got into an altercation with the groom before they shot him.
The suspect was not present at the part when they reached there.
According to neighbors and locals, wedding guests and the bride came out of the house after they heard gunshots.
A witness said that the bride went out to look for the shooter.
The neighbor, who was not identified, said:
It was loud, really loud. My daughter ran into my room and said “Mom, there’s shots, there’s shots, there’s shots.” So we came outside to see what was going on and we saw the bride come out and she started yelling, “Where is he? Where is he? I need to find him”.
A neighbor said that there was a hole in their fence and they found a person in their backyard after they got to know about the shooting.
The authorities are currently looking for the shooter.
