Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA), Bangalore was established in 1786, is a premier institute devoted to research in astronomy, astrophysics and related physics. It was first set up at Madras in 1792 which formally began to function at its Nungambakkam premises as the Madras observatory. In 1899, the observatory moved to Kodaikanal.

In 1971, the Kodaikanal observatory became an autonomous society, the Indian Institute of Astrophysics. The headquarters were shifted to Bangalore into its present campus in Koramangala in 1975. Today, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, the institute ranks as a premier institution devoted to research and education of astronomy and physics in the country. The main observing facilities of the Institute are located at Kodaikanal, Kavalur, Gauribidanur and Hanle.

Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) Screening Test Results:

IIAST is conducted for taking admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program offered jointly withPondicherry Central University and integrated Master of Technology (M.Tech)-Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) program offered jointly with University of Calcutta for the academic session 2015. The exam was successfully conducted on 13th December 2014.

Candidates who appeared for the examination will be looking for the IIAST 2014 results. The organisation is going to declare the  Indian Institute Of Astrophysics screening test merit list or score cards on 18th december. The candidates selection for the mentioned programme will be done through merit obtained in written exam and personal interview.
