Jwala Gutta & Pankaj Advani Shares Disappointment After Being Ignored For The Padma Awards Yet Again

Indian Sportstars Pankaj Advani and Jwala Gutta, who are one of the country’s most significant and consistent performers across their genre, have shown their disappointment on social media, after being ignored from receiving the prestigious Padma Bhushan award.

Pankaj Advani, who recently became the National Billiards Champion has been ignored for the Padma Awards for the second year in a row. He has won the World Billiards Championship 16 times, the least he deserves is some recognition.

The ace cueist expressed his thoughts on Twitter after Sports Minister Vijay Goel congratulated him for his National title.

In reply, the 14-time world champion and two-times Asian gold medallist said, he has done enough to get the Padma Bhushan, and if since he has been ignored again, he doesn’t know what to come up with. Advani’s response clearly hinted his disappointment over not getting nominated.

One of his fans questioned about the selection criteria to which Advani clarified about his recommendation by the state.

When he was advised to leave the desire of an award and ‘not beg’ by one of his followers, Advani gave him a befitting reply.

Even, India’s badminton doubles specialist Jwala Gutta lashed out on social media after being snubbed for Padma awards. She too showed her resentment over getting snubbed for the Padma awards yet again.

On her Facebook page, Jwala shared a long post expressing her agony.

It’s definitely unjustifiable if an individual who has been national champion for 15 times makes such a statement,

I was expecting to be acknowledged, nothing else. This was the third time I applied. I feel I have been let down.

Despite proving their excellence in their respective sports, both the athletes didn’t get the recognition they deserve. Sad!
