This 17-Year-Old Kid From Florida Is The Mastermind Behind The Largest Twitter Hack In History
You may have thought that a group of very experienced hackers might have been involved in the largest Twitter hack, but you’re wrong.
The mastermind behind the largest Twitter hack is a 17-year-old kid from Florida.
17-year-old Graham Clark of Tampa, Florida, was arrested on Friday last week.
He was charged with 30 felony charges for hacking into the accounts of high-profile users and for being involved in a cryptocurrency scam.
Other notable accounts compromised included Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos, Kanye West, Elon Musk, and many more.
The scheme involved stealing the identities of high-profile Twitter users and then directing victims to send Bitcoin to accounts.
The 17-year-old boy earned more than $100,000 in Bitcoin in just 1 day.
According to Hillsborough County State Attorney Andrew Warren, Clark is facing one count of organized fraud, 17 counts of communications fraud, 10 counts of fraudulent use of personal information, and other related charges.
Warren added:
These crimes were perpetrated using the names of famous people and celebrities, but they’re not the primary victims here. This ‘Bit-Con’ was designed to steal money from regular Americans from all over the country, including here in Florida. This massive fraud was orchestrated right here in our backyard, and we will not stand for that.
Clark was tracked down after a complex investigation that was carried out in the country.
The FBI, Secret Service, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, the IRS, and the state attorney’s office were involved in the search.
The breach is considered to be one of the largest in the social media site’s history.
