UP: 24 Arrested For Police Recruitment Exam Fraud

Police say that 24 people were arrested on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh as all of them were connected with fraud in the police recruitment exam.

15 people were arrested by their local police in their areas and 9 were arrested by the STF (Special Task Force), he added.

They were arrested from Varanasi, Agra, Firozabad, Ghazipur, Kanpur, Mathura, Lucknow, and Saharanpur. A total of 11 cases were registered, that led to the arrest of 24 people.

The State Special Task Force arrested 3 gangs and a total of 9 members from Lucknow, Agra, and Mathura. They were suspected in assisting the candidates during their exams.

The gangs used gadgets to help the candidates pass the exams, they used web cameras and Bluetooth earphones during the 2018 recruitment exams for the PAC and Police in UP.

The STF say that the candidates paid 12lakhs or 5 lakhs to the gangs.

The State Special Task Force said that the gang members also admitted that they charge up to 8 lakhs for fake exam-related documents.

The task force added that the leader along with his 2 gang members was arrested from Mathura near the Noida field unit of the Special Task Force.

An officer said: “Four sim card-based electronic communication devices, 22 Bluetooth earphones, one web camera, mark sheets and admit cards of 11 exam candidates and Rs. 15,000 were seized from their possession.”

The team also impounded an SUV that was used by the gang, an officer said: “The candidates sitting for the exam would read out the questions that would be transmitted through the devices fixed in their amulets to gang members outside the exam centers who would then feed them with correct answers.”

The 3rd gang was arrested in Lucknow, the Special Task Force carried out the operation and targeted those who were involved in the exam frauds.

The STF said: “They used to send fake candidates by tampering admit cards and would charge aspirants anywhere from Rs. 6 lakh to Rs. 12 lakh.”

The Special Task Force said that they will be charging cases on the accused and they will be interrogated to get more details about the exam frauds, the agency said that this will allow them to tighten up the security and avoid happenings like this in the future.
