This is the second time in one year in UP (Uttar Pradesh) turned down a pregnant woman who was about to give birth, with no options left she gave birth besides the road on Wednesday.

Dr. BM Kharre a senior official in Jalaun said: “I’ve been informed that a pregnant woman was forced out by a staff nurse. I’ve ordered an investigation and strictest action will be taken against guilty person,”

The family of the woman said that she was brought to the hospital yesterday, but the doctors and the personnel sent her away and told her to bring her back after 3 days. Just a few hours later, her situation worsened so her family members took her to a government hospital, the nurse refused and sent the woman away instead of admitting her. So she took the matter into her own hands and gave birth on the side of the road.

A couple of women gathered around and made a temporary enclosure until she gave birth. The family members of the woman are now protesting against the government hospital.

In August 2018, a pregnant woman was also turned down by 2 hospitals in Shravasti, she also gave birth on the sidewalk.

The husband of the wife said: “When my wife felt labor pain, I took her to a hospital in Sirsiya in an ambulance. However, they referred her to the district hospital. When we reached the district hospital in Bhinga, they asked me to take her to a hospital in Bahraich. Since I did not have enough money, my wife had to deliver the baby on the road.”

Deepak Meena has now ordered officials to make an investigation on what happened, he is the District Magistrate of Shravasti.
