Beer Company Reports Biggest Loss In Decade As People Believe Corona Beer Is Related To Coronavirus Outbreak

Anheuser-Busch InBev, the company that owns the Corona Beer, is currently experiencing its biggest losses in a decade as a result of the coronavirus outbreak, which has infected over 80,000 people all over the world.

The company not only owns Corona, but they also own Budweiser, Stella Artois, and Becks.

In a report that was released by the Anheuser-Busch InBev, they said the company has experienced a $170 million loss of earnings in China since the virus began to spread across China.

The loss started at the time when the company was exporting huge shipments of beer ahead of the Lunar New Year.

As a result, the bosses of the Anheuser-Busch InBev had to cut the bonus of the Chief Executive and had to report one of the steepest declines in its quarterly profits.

The sales drop comes after tourists have been banned from visiting China and fewer residents of the country are going out in public.

It is said that Anheuser-Busch InBev usually sells more beer in China compared to the United States, making the country very special.

Carlos Briton, the CEO of the Anheuser-Busch InBev, said, “Our business is all about going to restaurants, to nightlife, going out with friends, it’s really about to go back to normal, we’re preparing for the surge when things return to normal.”

He added, “As we look to the future, we are determined to lead growth through consumer-centricity, operational excellence, and innovation.”

He continued, “Our performance in 2019 was below our expectations, and we are not satisfied with these results.”

The WHO (World Health Organization) is currently urging governments all over the world to take action and prevent the disease from spreading.

As of writing this article, there is no known cure or vaccine for the deadly virus, which has killed over 2800 people.

Tedros Adhnaom Ghebreyesus, the chief of the World Health Organization, said, “Every country must be ready for its first case, its first cluster, the first evidence of community transmission and for dealing with sustained community transmission. And it must be preparing for all of those scenarios at the same time.”

The number of people killed worldwide by the coronavirus has exceeded 3000 after China reported over 42 deaths.

Worldwide, there have been nearly 90,000 confirmed cases.
