Burnley Plumber Praised For Refusing To Take Payment From 91-Year-Old Leukemia Patient

A 52-year-old Plumber from Burnley is being praised as a hero on the internet for refusing to take payment from a 91-year-old Leukemia Patient.

The man fixes the pipes and the boilers for the patient.

James Anderson says he has helped thousands of old and disabled people since he decided to shut down his private firm.

He now runs a non-profit company called Depher.

His act of kindness went viral on Social Media after a picture of his bill was shared.

The bill showed £0 sent to a 91-year-old woman with acute leukemia.

A note said, “’No charge for this lady under any circumstances. We will be available 24 hours to help her and keep her as comfortable as possible.”

Talking about the reaction his kind gesture made, Plumber Anderson said, “We didn’t expect it. It’s been everywhere.”

Anderson is originally from Liverpool, he said he uses donations and crowd-funding to help other people.

Anderson said he was inspired to help other people after he saw an engineer helping an old man.

After doing all the kind work, Anderson says he is currently around £8,000 in debt but added that everything is under control.

During an interview, he said, “A lot of people close to me ask: why are you getting yourself into debt? Why are you doing this? To me, debt is debt. I would rather owe some money to somebody and another person be alive and happy and safe.”

He added, “It’s an ethos that’s in my heart and it will always stay there.”

Anderson said he wants to take his company nation-wide in the future.

He added, “I’ve spoken to quite a few engineers around the country and they’re all for it. It’s just getting the funding. I don’t want any person who is elderly and disabled in this country, in this day and age, to die or suffer because of a cold home or a lack of funding to repair the boiler.”

He continued, “It shouldn’t be happening – that number should be down to zero. Simple as that.”

Not all heroes wear capes! Thank you for helping the less-fortunate Mr. Anderson!
