Couple in Maharashtra booked for treating patients without having any medical degrees and running illegal clinic

Biju Thopil and Valsa Thopil were arrested by the Maharashtra Police for treating patients without having any medical degrees.

The official statement that was released by the Maharashtra Police said, “A case has been registered against the couple, identified as Biju and Valsa Thopil, under the Maharashtra Medical Practitioners Act, 1961 at Bhiwandi police station.”

M S Clinic, the clinic that was owned by the couple, was raided by the police on June 14, 2019. The police saw the couple treating patients.

When the couple was asked to show their medical degrees, they failed to produce any.

The couple was reported to the Bhiwandi- Nijzampura Municipal Corporation by a social worker. The worker said that the couple was treating patients without having any medical degree.

Dr. Rajkumar Sharma, a health officer, seized all the medicines that were in the clinic and all the medical equipment the clinic had.

The couple will face charges that are under the relevant sections of the Maharashtra Medical Practitioner Act 1961.

Subhash Kokate, the senior police inspector of Bhiwandi Police Station, said, “We have booked accused under relevant sections and very soon they will be get arrested in the case”.
