Delaware Man Accidentally Buys Identical Powerball Tickets, Wins $50,000 Twice

A 61-year-old Delaware man accidentally bought two identical Powerball tickets for the same drawing, allowing him to win the lottery twice.

The 61-year-old Newark man said that he asked his sons to fill out some play slips for January 18, 2020, Powerball drawing, but when he got to the Malin’s Market in Newark, he realized he only had money to buy three of his intended four tickets.

The man returned the next day for his fourth ticket and accidentally used the same number for it as one of his other tickets had.

The man, whose identity was not shared with the public, said, “When I returned to the store after the drawing, I couldn’t believe I had won when I scanned the first ticket.”

He added, “A few hours later, when I scanned the second ticket and saw it had also won, I was shaking. It was unbelievable.”

The man ended up winning $100,000 from the lottery.

According to reports, he won $50,000 for each winning ticket.

The 61-year-old man said he will be using the money he won to pay off some bills.

The rest of the money will be going to his savings account.
