Endangered Green Sea Turtle Dies After Pooping Out A Bunch Of Plastic Bags In The Philippines

A local resident from Negros Occidental, Philippines, shared images that showed a dead endangered green sea turtle after it started to poop out a bunch of plastic bags.

Arnel Emplamado, the local resident who found the green sea turtle, said that he was walking on the coast of the Poblacion Village in Valladolid, Negros Occidental when he spotted the dead green turtle.

According to Bill Kratzer, the Captain of the Poblacion Village, the Green Sea Turtle did not have any injuries on its body but was seen pooping out plastic bags.

Bill said that the green sea turtle was around 3 feet long and was 2 feet wide.

Environmental Officials advised the residents to bury the turtle.

Green sea turtles are currently listed on the endangered list of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature).

According to scientists, turtles usually mistake plastic bags as jellyfish and they end up eating them.

In a report of the United Nation’s Environment Program, it revealed that the Philippines is one of the 5 countries in the world that produced plastic waste that usually ends up in oceans.
