Executive Engineer who works for the Bihar Government arrested for taking bribe of Rs. 14 lakhs

Suresh Prasad Singh, an executive engineer who works for the Bihar Government, was arrested on June 8, 2019, for getting caught of taking a bribe of Rs. 14 lakhs.

The police also conducted a raid at his house where they recovered cash and documents that were owned by him.

The police recovered Rs. 2.3 lakh cash from his house in Patel Nagar, documents of his 5 flats in Patna and Noida, jewelry, and many more.

Police Officer Gopal Paswan said that Suresh was caught on the act while taking the bribe, the police have also arrested Shashi Bhushan, a clerk who works in his department.

Officer Paswan added that Akhilesh Prasad Jaiswal, a local contractor, registered a complaint against the engineer, Jaiswal said that Suresh was demanding Rs. 32 lakhs from him.

The officer said, “We laid a trap as part of which Jaiswal agreed to pay Rs. 14 lakh as an installment of the bribe at the assigned time and place from where the two officials were caught red-handed.”

Shashi Bhushan and Suresh Prasad Singh are being questioned by the police and they will be brought to a local court in the upcoming week.
