Florida Man Thought He Was Stealing Opioids But Instead Got Laxatives

Florida, USA: A 56-year-old man from Florida is currently facing felony charges for stealing pills that he initially thought were opioids, but in reality, they were laxatives.

Ha-ha-ha, jokes on you.

56-year-old Peter Emery was caught on cam taking pills from a lockbox, said an affidavit from the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.

He later told the police that he thought the 2 pills were hydrocodone-acetaminophen — a narcotic that contains an opioid, but after learning that they were laxatives, he threw them away.

The man got the “Equate Gentle Laxatives”, an OTC (Over-The-Counter) medication, that helps ease constipation.

The roommate of Emery switched the pills after suspecting that Emery was stealing his pain medication.

Jayme Ream, the roommate, also set up a camera to record the incident.

An arrest affidavit says that Emery has multiple theft convictions.

Online records suggest that Emery was booked on a felony charge, which includes multiple counts of petit theft.

Emery was arrested by Pinellas Park Police near St. Petersburg, Florida.

A police affidavit lists his full name as Peter Hans Emery Jr.
