Heartless Thug Attacks 74-Year-Old Man Leaving Him With Broken Hip And Nose

A 74-year-old man was brutally assaulted by a heartless thug on April 22, 2020, leaving him with a broken hip and broken nose.

Robert Thompson was attacked by a cruel thug in his own garden, leaving him with horrible injuries and needing surgery.

Thompson is now releasing images of his injuries so social media could help him find the thug.

The pensioner said that he was approached outside his house on Stella Road in Blaydon, County Durham, by a man that jumped over his garden fence and attacked him.

The men fled on foot but was later seen getting back into a black car and driving away.

The poor pensioner was left with a broken nose, fractured cheek, and broken hip.

Thompson said that the offender was a white male that was in his early 20s with a slight body mass and a scruffy beard.

The man was wearing a grey hooded top and the police are now asking witnesses to come forward so they could arrest the man.

Ben Malinski, a detective constable, said that the attack was callous.

He also thanked the emergency services for helping the pensioner recover fast from his injuries.

Authorities are keen on finding the man that carried out the horrible attack.

Constable Malinski said:

This was a callous and unprovoked attack which left a vulnerable pensioner needing surgery. Thankfully Mr Thompson has made a speedy recovery and is recuperating well, but we are determined to find whoever is responsible for this vicious assault. We have carried out a number of enquiries in connection with this incident and are now appealing to the public to information. If you saw anything, or you think you might have information about who is responsible, please come forward as soon as possible.
