Horse In South Caroline Collapses While Pulling Carriage In Extreme Temperatures

On June 22, Julie Marie Cappiello shared a video on Facebook that showed a horse collapsed on the road after it overworked in the extreme temperatures of South Carolina.

In the video, you can also see two adults trying to get the horse drink water.

In her post, Julie said, “Horses deserve better than being stuck in traffic, overworked in extreme temperatures, and stuck lugging tourists for 8+ hours a day. Please don’t take carriage rides.”

In the one minute long video that was posted by Julie Marie Cappiello, you could see locals and passengers rushing towards the collapsed horse, members of the Charleston Fire Department are also seen in the video.

The horse could be seen lying motionless on the hot tarmac.

A woman could also be heard in the video saying “The horse is down. He should not be working. Unbelievable.”

The passengers of the carriage could also be seen getting down from it as people were trying to free the collapsed horse from its restraints.

But according to the Charleston Carriage Works owner Broderick Christoff, the horse “simply tripped over his own feet, fell down, and wisely waited for us to get there and unharness him before getting back up, which he did immediately afterwards.”

He added, “He simply tripped, which happens from time to time to all of us.”

The passengers of the carriage were high-school students.

Broderick said that he high-school students helped push the carriage back to the barn.

The video of Julie Marie Cappiello has been shared by more than 80 thousand Facebook users and has been viewed over 5.6 million times.
