Lesbian Couple Adopt 3 Young Brothers So They Can Grow Up Together

KC Currie and Lena Currie got married 5 years ago, and they adopted Joey, the eldest of 3 siblings, in 2018 after meeting him at an event that was organized by the Children’s Friend, a non-profit group.

A year later, on November 23, 2019, which is also the National Adoption Day, the family adopted Logan and Noah, the 2 other siblings of Joey.

3-year-old Joey, 2-year-old Logan, and 1-year-old Noah, are siblings.

During an interview on Good Morning America, KD and Lena said their 3 boys call them Mama and Mommy.

Lena said, “A lot of times Joey says, ‘Hey, Mommy-Mama’ – he’ll settle for either one.”

After Lena and KC adopted little joey, the Children’s Friend called them and told the couple that Noah, who was only 6-weeks old at that time, was also in need of a family.

KC and Lena didn’t even think about it and went to say yes right away.

A month after adopting Noah, the Children’s Friend called them again and informed them about Logan, the middle sibling of Joey and Noah, who was about to get adopted by a family.

The arrangement with that family didn’t work out, and the group called the couple because he was in need of a home.

KC and Lena were asked by the Children’s Friend if they would be interested in reuniting the brothers.

KC said, “It was our gut-feeling. We were going to end up saying yes because keeping the brothers together was really important to us.”

KC added, “When they’re older and have questions, they’ll have each other to lean on and experience that ride together.”

The couple adopted Noah and Logan last month.

Veronica Listerud, the director of the adoption at Children’s Friend, was amazed by the kind act of the couple and said this is what you want to see happen.

Veronica said KC and Lena are amazing.

She added, “They’re flexible—they really understand the kids’ needs, the importance of maintaining sibling relationships and the long-term impact of that.”

Talking about why they adopted the brothers, KC said, “When they’re older and have questions, they’ll have each other to lean on and experience that ride together.”
