A pretty mistake is what we call luck, but when it ends up the other way around, we call it a disaster. But this man, he had both.

A 56-year-old man from Michigan accidentally bought 2 identical tickets for the same Mega Millions drawing and he ended up winning twice.

Not once, twice and yes you read that right for 2 straight times!

Samir Mazahem, who is from Dearborn Heights, Michigan, USA, said that he made a pretty mistake when he was buying his lottery ticket.

He ended up winning twice that day.

It looks like he has no idea what to do with the money….

Samir said that he accidentally bought the identical tickets for the June 9, 2020 Mega Millions drawings.

He used the official lottery website for the tickets, confirmed Samir during an interview with the officials of the Michigan Lottery.

He said that he went online and bought a ticket using numbers that consists of family birthdays.

He continued:

I went online and bought a ticket using numbers that are family birthdays. I forgot to save the numbers as favorites in the app, so I went back in and set them up as favorites so I could easily play them in the future.

Repeating the process had an unforeseen side effect, said Samir.

Initially, he had no idea that he was going to become a millionaire. I mean no one does, considering that the chances of you winning the lottery are so low.

Samir added:

What I didn’t realize, is that meant I would be buying a second ticket with the same numbers. Once I figured out I had bought two tickets with identical numbers, I was a little bummed but didn’t think much about it.

Well, he might thought of it as a mistake, but in reality, he was lucky and it was a pretty mistake.

He matched the 5 white balls drawn.

His numbers were 01-05-09-10-23.

He ended up winning $1 million twice.

Talking about how he knew that he had won, he said:

I recently logged into the app to check on some tickets I had bought, and that is when I saw I had two $1 million prizes pending. Saying that I was stunned is an understatement. I couldn’t believe it was real. It took several days for the reality to set in that my mistake had paid off to the tune of $2 million.

Samir said that he will be buying a new house with the money that he won in the lottery.

The rest of the money will be placed into the savings account that he has.
