NASA to open International Space Station for tourists starting from 2020

NASA will now give access to normal people to stay at the International Space Station for months, but the price is quite hectic. One night at the International Space Station will cost a private citizen about $35,000 USD per night.

On Friday, the space agency announced that they will allow 2 private astronaut missions of up to 30 days per year.

A return ticket back to earth will cost you nearly $58 million USD, and even Astronauts will have to pay $35,000 USD.

NASA said that the agency has a “lot of excitement” for the plans of sending normal people into space.

Jeff DeWit, the Chief Financial officer of NASA, said, “NASA is opening the International Space Station to commercial opportunities and marketing these opportunities as we’ve never done before.”

The space agency also explained why they were doing this.

During the presentation on Friday, NASA said that they are not looking out to make a profit from the private trips to the ISS, but, they will be using the money to achieve goals like returning humans to the moon on or after 2024 and sending humans to Mars.
