Tax Department Fines JW Marriott Chandigarh For Applying Tax On 2 Bananas That Were Sold To Actor Rahul Bose
The tax department has handed the JW Marriot, a 5-star hotel, in Chandigarh a fine of Rs. 25,000 for applying tax on a tax excepted item.
Earlier this week, Rahul Bose shared a video on Twitter, in which he showed how much the hotel charged him for 2 bananas.

In the video above, Rahul showed that the JW Marriott hotel in Chandigarh charged Rs. 442 for 2 bananas.
After the video went viral, the Tax authorities investigated the incident and fined the five-star hotel.
Tax authorities asked the JW Marriott hotel to pay Rs. 25,000.
In the video, 51-year-old Rahul Bose said, “You have to see this to believe it. Who said fruit wasn’t harmful to your existence?”
The Excise and Taxation Department in Chandigarh of Chandigarh went to the hotel and acquired a number of documents that showed their sales.
Rahul Bose was staying at the 5-star hotel in Chandigarh as he was in the state for a movie shooting.
JW Marriott Chandigarh is yet to release a statement about the incident.
