200 Worshippers Break Lockdown Rules To Go To Funeral Of Dead Bull That Was Treated As God

Around 200 people in India reportedly broke the lockdown curfews of the country just to attend the funeral of a dead bull, which was being treated as God by locals.

Mooli, the dead bull, was seen by locals as a deity.

The bull reportedly had an amazing race-winning ability.

The bull was also a star at the festivals where villagers try to hold the beasts’ humps and run.

Mooli also enjoyed his special status as he was attached to a local Hindu temple.

The famous bull died on Sunday and received a lavish send-off.

The locals held a funeral for the bull and did a burial ceremony that was topped off with massive fireworks display.

Mooli lived in the village of Madurai in southern Tamil Nadu state.

The state has confirmed 1,242 cases of the novel coronavirus.

A local official said:

“Initially only 30-50 people participated in the burial, and then later to pay their last respects around 100-200 assembled. They didn’t assemble at one point but they kept walking in, paying their last respects, praying and then leaving.”

Local media reports said that admirers of the bull brought garlands, towels, and bundles of cash as gifts for the dead bull.

Kalubambarai, a resident of the village, said residents of their area cried when they heard about the death of the bull.

He said:

“Women cried when they heard when the bull died. The villagers were very sad.”

Mooli was around 20 years old.

If there were no lockdown in place, the death ceremony of the bull would have had over 1000 visitors, said locals.
