A woman in Florida was in labor and had her husband bring her to the hospital, but on their way there, she stopped and ended up casting a vote before giving birth to her child.
That’s the American way huh?
Karen Briceno Gonzales, an employee of the Orange County Supervisor of Elections, said that she was processing voter ballots at around 2:#0 pm on Tuesday when a man came in with the driver’s license of his wife.
The man explained to Karen that his wife was outside inside their vehicle and wanted to cast her vote before she went to the hospital.
During an interview with WKMG-TV, Karen said:
I go, ‘We need her here,’ and he basically told me that’s gonna be a problem because she refuses to go to the hospital until she votes.
The man told the staff that his wife was in labor and was insisting to cast her vote before they go to the hospital.
Karen said she initially took a mail-in ballot out to the woman, but she still refused it out.
However, the woman said that she wanted to fill it out right now.
The woman ended up casting her vote.
The woman, who was in labor, filled out her ballot while controlling her breathing and cast her vote.
Karen said that the situation was odd, however, the woman was really keen on casting her vote.
Karen said:
It was an odd situation, but she wanted to vote, and that was her right as an American citizen.
After the woman cast her ballot, the couple left for the hospital.
Talking about voting, Karen said:
We want to facilitate every voter that is eligible to vote, the right to vote, no matter their circumstances, no matter the situation I understand the importance of this election to some people. I gave her an ‘I Voted’ sticker, and she was on her way to the hospital. She was very happy that she got to vote.
Election officials said that they want to send the woman along with an onesie that would have the saying “first vote for the baby”.
They also want to send some “Future Voter” stickers to the family.
The name of the woman was not revealed to the public due to privacy reasons.
