Nigerian National And 2 Indians Arrested For Duping A Woman Through A Matrimonial Site
Officials have arrested a Nigerian National and 2 other people for duping a woman worth Rs. 14 Lakhs through a Matrimonial Website.
The police arrested 43-year-old Smart Eghareba, the Nigerian National, Balram, from Karnal, Haryana, and a woman, who is from Gumla, Jharkhand.
A woman registered a complaint on December 20, 2018, after she was duped by the three people through a Matrimonial Site.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the woman met “Neil Seed Kumar” on a Matrimonial Website, in which both of them exchanged numbers and started to talk to each other frequently.
The accused then asked the woman to send him Rs. 14 Lakhs in four bank accounts, the man allegedly said that the money will be used for customs clearance. “Neil” promised to send valuable things and articles to the woman.
After the woman sent the money, the man disappeared.
ACP (Additional Commissioner of Police) A K Singla, said, “Police gathered information about the alleged bank account in which money was transferred and arrested Balram on Thursday.”
During the interrogation of Balram, he told the police that a Nigerian National and a woman from Jharkhand were also involved.
The police then arrested Smart and the woman.
The police did not release the name of the woman.
The police believe that the Nigerian National and his accomplices have scammed other women through the same technique.
The police are still searching for one more person who is said to be involved in the duping.
