Ovidio Guzmán López, the son of drug kingpin Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, was arrested by the Mexican police earlier this year, and yesterday, the government had to release the son of El Chapo as the drug cartel started an all-out war against the government.
Troops did temporarily detain the son of El Chapo during an operation that was held in Culiacan, but after the Sinaloa Cartel declared war against the government, Guzman was released by the authorities to save lives of the innocent.
The battle left 7 people dead and a lot of injured people.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador acknowledges that security personnel went to Culiacan to arrest the son of El Chapo on a judge’s order.
But eventually, the operation had to be suspended to protect the lives of the people.
During a press release, President Obrador said, “The capture of a criminal cannot be worth more than the lives of the people … many citizens, people, human beings were at risk.”
Minister Alfonso Durazo Monraño, the security Minister of Mexico, said 4 people were taken into custody by a defense and National Guard Contingent, which was attacked by a group of cartel members when they carried out the arrest.
During the action, one of the men was identified as Ovidio Guzmán López, the son of drug kingpin Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán.

The police briefly arrested Guzman, and had to retreat the scene after the drug cartel declared war against the government.
According to local news agencies, gangsters and drug cartel members set up road blocks, set cars on fire, and open fired on the streets.
Minister Durazo said, “The decision was taken to retreat from the house, without Guzman, to try to avoid more violence in the area and preserve the lives of our personnel and recover calm in the city.”
It is reported that 30 members of the National Guard were targeted by the drug cartel, and the fires came from a house that had the son of El Chapo.
