21-Year-Old Man Dies After Jumping Into River To Rescue Pet Dog
A 21-year-old man died after he jumped into the water just to save a dog that fell into it when he was walking.
The 21-year-old man was with a 20-year-old woman when they entered the River Weaver in Northwich, Cheshire.
One of the dogs that they were walking fell into the water, which led to the 21-year-old to jump into the water.
The police, firefighters, and paramedics were scrambled in the scene, shortly before 5 am on Saturday.
Authorities found the woman that was with the man hanging on the side of a steep embankment.
Firefighters placed a ladder alongside the embankment and helped her to get out of the water and on to the dry land.
The 20-year-old woman was assessed by paramedics before being taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
The woman was then discharged from the hospital.
An extensive search of the river and its banks was conducted for the 21-year-old man.
The authorities even brought in a police helicopter and an underwater rescue team along with the Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service rescue boat to find the man.
A swift water rescue team was also deployed.
At around 2:10 pm, the underwater rescue team found a body in the river.
Authorities believe that the body belonged to the 21-year-old.
The Cheshire Police have informed the family of the deceased.
They are not treating the death of the man as a suspicious death.
The dog, which was in the water, was rescued by firefighters.
