Cat That Got Detained For Smuggling Drugs Has Escaped A High-Security Prison In Sri Lanka
A cat that got detained for smuggling drugs has escaped a high-security prison in Sri Lanka, confirmed authorities.
The cat was detained for trying to smuggle drugs, a cellphone chip, and SIM cards.
According to reports, the feline was detected by jail intelligence officials on Saturday at the high-security Welikada Prison.
Authorities found nearly 2 grams of heroin around the neck of the cat in a small plastic back.
2 SIM cards and a memory chip were also found by the authorities.
However, on Sunday (August 2, 2020) the cat managed to escape a prison room where it was being kept.
Authorities did not release a statement about the incident.
The prison had also reported an increase in incidents of people throwing small packets of drugs, cellphones, and phone charges over the walls in recent weeks.
