Jalpaiguri, West Bengal: A 16-year-old girl was reportedly gang-raped on a number of occasions, was killed and had her body dumped in a septic tank of a house.

The incident reportedly happened in the Indian state of West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district.

The police shared the news on August 22, 2020.

3 people have been arrested by the police for being involved in the incident.

They were produced before the court on August 21, 2020, and they were remanded to 8 days of police custody, said the police.

The 3 men have been identified as Rahman Ali, Jamirul Haque and Tamirul Haque.

According to reports, the victim went missing on August 10, 2020.

The family of the victim, whose identity was not shared with the public due to legal reasons, lodged a missing complaint afterward.

Investigations revealed that the girl was dumped in a septic tank of a house that is located in Pradhan Para locality on the same night of the incident.

On August 13, 2020, the police arrested the 3 accused.

During interrogation, the 3 confessed that they raped and killed the girl on August 15, 2020.

Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) Khageswar Roy from the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) is currently demanding the death penalty for the 3.

MLA Roy has also met with the family of the victim.

The police said that they have launched an investigation for the incident.
