Shelbyville, Indiana: Sometimes the trophy that we want to get is not the one that we deserve.

Levi LaGrange, twisted his ankle less than half a mile away from the finish line during a 5k invitational run.

Levi, who goes to the Western Boone High School, said:

I was running up this little rolling hill… and I rolled my ankle and felt something go ‘pop,’.

Levi motioned for Axel Aleman, a Sheridan High School senior, to pass him, but instead of just passing him, the kind lad had something better in mind.

Recalling the moment, Axel said:

I was able to see he was in a lot of pain. As I got closer to him, he was limping… I asked if he was all right. He said he felt like something snapped.

Alex refused to leave Levi behind, so he just helped him out.

Axel added:

As soon as I saw him, I knew I had to do something. It just seemed like the right thing to do. That mattered more than the race. I told him I wasn’t going to leave.

Placing an encouraging hand at his competitor’s back, Alex remained with Levi for the rest of the lengthy race.

Levi and Axel crossed the finish line with seconds of one another and the kind senior also made sure that the injured friend of his will be the first one to cross the line.

Becky, the mother of Levi, was impressed by the amazing gesture of Axel, given the fact that they did not know each other or had never met before.
