A 41-year-old man reportedly squirted his blood at emergency care workers after a scuffle with a security guard at a hospital in Birmingham, UK.

Neil Timmins, the father of 4 kids, was approached by the staff of the hospital when they noticed that he was filming members of the public and hospital stage.

The incident happened at Heartlands Hospital, which is located in Bordersley Green.

When 41-year-old Timmins was appearing at the Birmingham Crown Court on Thursday, the 41-year-old claimed that he had bled on emergency workers.

However, prosecutors argued that he was asked to stop filming the staff and the public, but ended up doing it.

He was lashed out while being apprehended.

It was reported that he waved his hand at a custody nurse and detention escort officer, which sent his blood spraying in their direction.

It is believed that the blood entered the mouth of the nurse.

Timmins had been out drinking on July 11 and ended up in hospital after getting a cut on his finger.

Timmins ended up pleading guilty to 3 charges of assault, out of which 2 were for the crimes he did with the emergency workers and possession of cannabis.

Paul Spratt, prosecuting, said:

Whilst there he was filming members of staff and members of the public on his mobile phone. He was asked not to do that but he persisted which ultimately led to him being taken from the unit he was in.

The fact that blood entered the mouth of the nurse, it is possible that she might get a bunch of blood transmissible diseases or even blood infections.

Gulam Ahmed, mitigating, said:

This man was in drink, he is ashamed of his behaviour and he regrets it. The problem is Mr Timmins is affected with alcohol. When in drink he cannot control his actions and on many occasions, he cannot remember what he has done. He is apologetic and he regrets where he finds himself.

Timmins was given an 11-month jail sentence by the judge that was handling his case.

The health condition of the nurse that was involved in the incident remains unknown.
