An elderly woman moved into a care home so she could be reunited with her husband as she was having a hard time living without him.

The couple stayed away from each other for 5 weeks.

96-year-old Kenneth Meredith, who has dementia, moved into the care home on his own after his health started to deteriorate, however, the wife of Kenneth was having a hard time.

Betty, who is 91, was having a hard time living without her husband, so she decided to move into the care home herself in order to surprise him.

In a bid to make their reunion more special, nurses at the care home, which is located in Birmingham, UK, organized a party.

The staff had balloons and music ready for the couple.

Betty and Kenneth have been married to each other for 71 years.

The wife of Kenneth moved into the care home 1 week before, but because of self-isolation rules amidst this pandemic, she had to stay away from her husband.

Kenneth had no idea that Betty was there.

23-year-old Charlotte Chapman, the great-granddaughter of Kenneth and Betty, took the video of the reunion.

During an interview with UNILAD, Charlotte said:

My granddad has dementia and has recently gone into a care home five weeks ago and my nan couldn’t live without him and decided she wanted to move in there with him too. The care home went above and beyond decorating and organized all of this for them to be together the care home is called Bourn View Care Home in Birmingham.

The couple is not really doing well right now due to something unfortunate.

Kenneth and Betty started to have health problems after their daughter passed away in August this year.

Charlotte, who is from Redditch, Worcestershire, UK, said that it was just beautiful to see the 2 back living with each other again.

She added: “It was so beautiful to see them reunited again. It was lovely, and it was so special that the care home could do this for us.”
