Dead Man Is Banned From His Own Funeral After Arriving In Chair Instead Of Coffin

The dead man sits.

A dead man got banned from their own funeral after their body arrived sitting upright in a chair and not in a coffin.

Che Lewis, the 29-year-old man, got into his own funeral by sitting in a chair, instead of a coffin.

He was sent away due to the weird nature of their arrival.

The incident that we are talking about happened on November 25, 2020.

The man was driven to the church on the chair in the tray of a hearse after his body was embalmed in a sitting position.

The man had an open-air ride before his burial.

According to reports, the unusual funeral procession passed through Trinidad and Tobago’s capital, Port of Spain, on its way to the ceremony at St John the Evangelist Church.

The funeral was carried out in the town of Diego Martin.

Che Lewis decked out in a pink jacket with a white pocket square and a cream pair of trousers.

After arriving at the final place, the staff told the people to take back the man because he was not in a coffin.

This left him sitting outside and greeting mourners.

According to reports, some people that saw the man outside the funeral house criticized the man for not wearing a mask.

They did not know the man was already dead.

The funeral was also streamed on social media, and most of the users had no idea that Lewis was sitting on a chair.

The owner of the funeral home talked about how the man ended up sitting on the chair on his own funeral day.

Dennie, the owner of the Dennie’s Funeral Home, released a statement about the incident, where they said:

The family requested it, but it was something we had on our bucket list to do so when the request came it wasn’t foreign to us because we are aware of funerals like that abroad. We had him by us for three days to monitor how he was doing in the chair before we took it public.

The trend is known in many places as extreme embalming, where bodies are preserved by injecting a chemical fluid.

This makes people totally rigid.

Brent Batson, a police officer, was not happy with what happened.

In a statement that was released by Officer Batson, they said:

We are disappointed in the reckless behaviour engaged by Dennie’s Funeral Home. Carrying persons in a dangerous manner is an offence with a £750 penalty and the police will continue the investigation into the funeral company’s conduct on the road.

The man was seen being placed in a casket for burial along with his father.

Abisaja John, the 45-year-old brother of Lewis, was also shot dead inside their family house.

According to reports, the men died on July 24, 2020.
