Family Left In Tears After Spotting Arrow Shooting Through Neck Of Beloved Pet Cat
A family was let in tears after they spotted a massive arrow shooting through the neck of their beloved pet cat.
Lola, the cat, had to be rushed to the vet for life-saving surgery after she was used as target practice by a heartless person.
The Brannock Veterinary Surgery in Newarthill, Scotland shared the images of the 13-year-old cat on social media.
It shows the arrow shooting through the neck of their beloved pet cat.
The veterinary clinic surgery reportedly received a call just before they were about to shut down on Thursday evening of this week.
Cheryl Coventry, who is from Holytown, called the surgery vets after they getting to know that Lola had an arrow in their neck.
Talking about the horrible happening, Cheryl said:
I have two cats and they don’t normally go out and about during the winter months, but this day they both did. It must have happened between 3pm and 5:30pm and it was my oldest daughter that first spotted something was wrong. She spotted her outside, although it was dark, and let out a scream that I will never forget. Lola didn’t seem to be bothered by it, and at first I wasn’t sure what was round her neck. I thought it was maybe a cable tie from the garden as I have them outside holding down the trees. But when I looked further and noticed it was an arrow we quickly tried to calm the kids down and phoned the vet. The vets definitely think it’s been a deliberate act and we have both now contacted the police and the SSPCA.
Lola was sedated in order to get the arrow removed.
According to reports, the arrow was removed after an x-ray was carried out.
The veterinary officials released an official statement about the incident.
The statement reads:
Tonight, just before we closed, we received a phone call to say that an owner had come home to find their cat with an arrow through their neck. We were really saddened and disappointed to see this little girl with exactly that. Sometimes we like to get it wrong. It is hard to believe that someone could do this to a defenceless animal and I would urge all pet owners to be vigilant with their own pets and also any wildlife in their area. No animal deserves to be treated like this. This has been reported to the police and the SSPCA and we will assist with any and all enquiries.
Lola was sent back after the surgery.
According to reports, the cat is currently recovering properly after the surgery.
The vets said that they had to clip the wounds of the cat and they also cleaned the wounds properly in order to reduce the risk of infection.
Talking about Lola, the Brannock Vets said:
Her wounds were clipped up and cleaned to try and reduce the risk of infection and she is away home to be treated like a wee princess. Lola is very, very lucky that the arrow penetrated skin and muscle but missed all major organs or body cavities. Lucky may be a strange choice of word but it could have been a very different outcome if the arrow had moved centimetres either way.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Lola, may she recover fast.
The owner of the cat or the vet surgery clinic did not confirm if a criminal case was launched after the horrible crime.
