Despite losing the match by mere 9 runs, everyone admired the girls for their priceless efforts during the vital match. Starting with an absolute bang on, the girls went forward with their campaign beating the English Women in their tournament opener. They lost only one game during the league stages, and that was against Australia. And, in a bid to fill this void, girls player audaciously at the semi-finals backing off the Australians gracefully. Riding on Harmanpreet Kaur’s brilliant 171*, team India proved its worth in the single match.

Things were different during the finals, despite the easy-going in the beginning, the match went diverging at the end, with Indians losing the match with mere 9 runs margin.

Now, after two days, Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has met the Indian Women’s Team. The players received a heartily welcome at the Mumbai Airport, as a mark of an acknowledging gesture, the players have gifted a signed bat to Modi.

Post the presentation, players interacted with the Prime Minister, it is well known about the individual tweets posted by Modi. Girls shot individual brief questions and Modi answered them patiently, some asked about the long hours of his work, some about the yoga and it is India’s semi finals show stealer Harmanpreet Kaur’s question that stunned the minister, brought a smile on his face. 

While skipper Mithali Raj asked about the way Modi manages his time, another player who aims to enter politics asked about the leadership traits and strategies. Modi suggested the players do yoga, added that despite having hectic schedules, he never gives up Yoga at on any single day. He said that Yoga helps in renouncing the focus on the game and stabilizes the concentration.

However, being a definite standout, Kaur asked Modi about his clothing, she asked if the PM had a special designer. Modi is learned to have said that he didn’t have a designer as he still relied on a tailor in Ahmedabad who has been making his clothes for years now. He went on to add that his tailor would charge only Rs 20-25 back in the day but how his charges have increased in accordance with time.

When asked about the experience with Prime Minister, Poonam Raut went saying, “He told us a lot of motivational things. We also had some questions for him. He asked him about how he handles the pressure of ruling the country. He replied that meditation and yoga were a big help. He told us ‘aap haarne ka dukh mat karo, aapne pura desh ka dil jeet liya hai.”

“He’d said that we’ll meet again but when you come back having won the World Cup,” concluded Raut.

Modi then said that they won the hearts of 125 Crore Indians, and it was all the Indians who carried the finals on their shoulders.
