Everything is going well for Men in Blue so far in the ongoing test match between India and Sri Lanka. In the morning session of Day-02, Sri Lanka bowlers must’ve felt restricting India to a total below 550 was a reality.

But Hardik Pandya scored a splendid half-century on Test debut and combined with the tail to frustrate the hosts and stretch India’s total to 600 before being caught for a 49-ball 50.

After India scored 600 runs in their first innings, Sri Lanka got off to a poor start as they lost opener Dimuth Karunaratne (2) cheaply with just seven runs on the board.  

Yes, India got an early breakthrough with Umesh Yadav trapping Dimuth Karunaratne lbw with an inswinger for 2. Next came the Sri Lankan experienced player Upul Tharanga who went on with three fours in an over of Umesh to prove the surface is still a batsman’s paradise.

However, with tight bowling and fielding on the field, Sri Lanka took tea at 38/1, trailing by 562 runs. later, Karunaratne was caught leg before wicket by pacer Umesh Yadav. Then wickets came back to back for India.

It has been India’s day all the way. Their lower-order contributed valuable runs towards the team total, with the visitors reaching the 600-run mark. They followed it up with a good bowling performance, restricting the Lankan batsmen from settling at any given point of time.

By the last over of the day, i.e, after 44 overs, Sri Lankan’s finished the second day on a shaky score of 154/5 ( Angelo Mathews 54, Dilruwan Perera 6)
