Revealed: Why Was Virat Kohli Distraught After Getting First-Ball Duck [VIDEO]
So far, it has been a below average season for Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). As the team missed out Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers in their beginning games, the team couldn’t manage to travel properly in this year’s IPL. Having placed at the bottom of the points table, RCB desperately needed to get a win against Kolkata Knight Riders.
RCB did a fantastic job by restricting the hosts to 131 and it looked RCB could comfortably win the match. One of the most destructive opening combinations in the history of T20 cricket Chris Gayle and Virat Kohli walked out to open the innings. As RCB side is full of destructive batsmen, Gambhir thought of taking early wickets as it is a low scoring game.
Hence, he placed two slips for Virat Kohli. Eventually, Virat went after a wide one, which edged to the second slip, Manish Pandey. Pandey fumbled a bit but took the catch in the second attempt. Virat however, looked visually upset after throwing his wicket away as he was seen pointing towards the sight screen and showing his discontent to the umpire and saying him something about people moving.
He got frustrated and smashed his bat onto his pads and walked off the ground. Kohli claims that something distracted him as Coulter-Nile ran into bowl. Soon after he went to the dug-out, he called the fourth umpire and asked him to sort the movement behind the screen. Two balls later, Gayle too pulled out the last second and gestured towards the same spot.
There must be some distraction behind the screen which would have caught the attention of Kohli, who got his first duck in this year’s IPL. However, Kohli was seen to be calm and said that it was a not big deal in the post-match interview to Mike Hussey. “The sightscreen is very small here, one guy got up as the bowler was loading up, that distracted me. Still, it wasn’t a big deal.”
