This Is What Acronyms ‘MNL, INL And VAC’ Stands For In Traffic Signals

We, Indians have a certain kind of traffic system that controls the orders of the vehicles in a firm manner. From the very primary school stage, we are well aware of the three popular and most discussed colors in the traffic signals, Green, Red, and Yellow lights, there are three more popular acronyms that are most commonly used and has an appropriate meaning, and still, we aren’t aware of.

Relatively not even one out of ten knows the real meaning behind the acronyms VAC, INL and MNL that are frequently noticed in the traffic signals. One must know the real meaning of these terms, in order to assure the safer traveling assistance and proper order.

  • The acronym MNL depicts ‘Manual’, which means that the Traffic police is in the stands and is controlling the traffic himself by switching the colors in according to the rush.

  • Meanwhile, the acronym INL means ‘Intelligence’, which means the operations are carried away with the help of the technology, the duration of the signals is already set up, and the vehicles have to follow the rules which are pre-programmed. In general, Red signal lasts for 180 and Green for 60 seconds, respectively.

  • Coming to the last one, the acronym VAC means ‘Vehicle Actuated Control’ and this is called as the most advanced and modernized phenomenon. This is an upgraded version of the previous two systems. here, CCTV cameras are arranged at the traffic junctions and the duration for which the each signal should last will be programmed instantly according to the number of vehicles on the every possible side.

More time is granted for those people, on whose side there are lots of vehicles and vice versa. This technology is not yet widely practiced in India, this is implemented in few most developed parts of the world.
