This CoA Member Rubbishes Reports Of Rahul Dravid Replacing Anil Kumble As Team India’s Coach
After a media report, on Saturday, claimed that Anil team India coach Anil Kumble has been approached by BCCI for the role of team director but in the latest developments, CoA member Diana Edulji has denied those reports.
According to the report, Kumble was getting promoted as the director of the Indian cricket team while Rahul Dravid was supposed to be named India coach. The Supreme Court appointed Committee of Administrators has quashed reports of Rahul Dravid replacing Anil Kumble as the coach for the national team post-Australia series.
According to the CoA member, Diana Edulji there was no such development of Rahul Dravid replacing Anil Kumble as the coach. Earlier, a report stated that CoA is looking to change the coaching hierarchy on the lines similar to that of England and Wales Cricket Board.
“We need to move ahead with the times and that is why these structural changes are looked at. If it happens, Indian cricket will benefit, as one person will handle all the teams and there will be better coordination between all concerned. The plan is already in place and there is a strong possibility that when new contracts are given out, these changes will be made,” board sources said.
“It actually quite early to speak about this situation. Being both the coach and team director is indeed a hectic job and needs immense dedication. And with the schedule we have he is likely to get exhausted. Thus we need a back-up option, particularly with the Champions Trophy being round the corner,” the source further added.
Also, if the report was to be believed, then, BCCI was also planning to dissolve the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) which features Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly.
