Ajinkya Rahane Gave A Perfect Reply When Steve Smith Asked Team India To Join Them For Beer
India sealed a memorable 2-1 series win against Australia, after an intense Test Series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Both the teams ended up with a bitter relationship by the end of the series. Throughout the series, we had seen many sledging moments, brain fade moments and few embarrassing moments.
Whether it was Ishant Sharma making monkey faces for Aussies or Australian players blaming Team India. Spectators and cricket fans witnessed it all.
Smith has been in the center of a controversy after his opposite number Virat Kohli accused him of systematically abusing the Decision Review System during the second Test in Bangalore.
Steve Smith, who apologized for letting emotions get the better of him throughout the series, had a brief chat with India’s stand-in captain Rahane after the Dharamsala Test.
After India won against Australia, Aussie skipper, Steve Smith reached out to his IPL teammate, Ajinkya Rahane and asked him and Team India to join the Australian team for a round of beer. It was a bitterly fought test series and to make things better, Steve Smith asked the team for the beer.
I said (to Rahane) see you next week, he’s in my team for the IPL,” told Smith.
He further added,
I asked if he wanted us to come in for a drink being at the end of the series. He said he’d get back to me. With Ajinkya, we get on well. He’s in my IPL team so I’ll be with him for the next few weeks,”
Steve told that it’s the part of Australian culture to have beer with rival players once the contest is over. But the rival captain, Virat Kohli has made this clear that Aussies are not off the field friends for India anymore.
No, it (the friendship equation with the Aussies) has changed for sure. I thought that was the case but it has changed for sure. As I said in the heat of the battle, you want to be competitive but yeah I have been proven wrong, said Kohli.
Ajinkya Rahane didn’t clearly deny Steve’s offers, but he avoided his offer by asking him to meet next week (for IPL). Rahane proved that his loyalty lies with the National team first.
We imagined how Ishant Sharma would have reacted Steve Smith’s beer invite. Here you go…
