You’ll Always Be My Captain: Virat Kohli’s Emotional Message For MS Dhoni
Mahendra Singh Dhoni influenced many cricketing careers and is still an inspiration to youngsters not only in India but around the world. Dhoni called time on India’s limited-overs captaincy on Wednesday that stunned the entire cricketing fraternity and of course his millions of fans all over the globe.
A couple of days after Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down as the captain of the India ODI and T20I teams, Virat Kohli paid great tribute to the wicketkeeper batsman’s tenure as skipper, saying he will always be Kohli’s captain.
It was under Mahendra Singh Dhoni that Virat Kohli made his Test and ODI debuts and the swashbuckling right-hander was quick to thank India’s most successful captain for donning the role of a perfect senior in the dressing room.
Kohli took to Twitter to express his gratitude to Dhoni with a candid message about India’s World Cup-winning skipper, “Thanks for always being the leader a youngster wants to have around him. You’ll always be my captain @msdhoni Bhai”
Here is the Tweet:

Although in the past, there was speculation that Dhoni and Kohli did not share a good rapport, the duo has always made it a point to praise each other and have enjoyed each others’ company on the field. While Dhoni has recently termed Kohli as one of the best, Kohli has always spoken highly of Dhoni’s contribution towards Indian cricket and how he always looks to learn the tricks of captaincy from Dhoni.
Earlier, Kohli was named the Test skipper after MS Dhoni had decided to quit the longer format during India’s tour of Australia in 2014.
Also Virat Kohli, in an interview earlier, told how strange it is when someone retires and you do not get to share the dressing room with that particular player anymore. He also spoke about the bonding the cricketer’s share and how the whole team misses Mahendra Singh Dhoni who has brought so much success to India when he was the captain.
After leading India for more than nine years, Dhoni will go down as the finest captain cricket has ever seen. Not only did he win that T20 World Cup, he led India to World Cup win in 2011, ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 and even the number one ranking in Tests.
Dhoni’s captaincy has been one of its kind. His composure behind the stumps while guiding his brigade is something that cannot be achieved by many. What do you think of this story? Let us know your views in the comments section below.
