Dangal Effect: Haryana Government Provides 100 Wrestling Mats For ‘Akhadas’
Aamir Khan’s “Dangal” is breaking records at the box office and the actors are also getting accolades for the way they have portrayed real-life characters. As we all know “Dangal” is based on the real-life story of wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his two daughters, Geeta and Babita and how Mahavir trained his daughters to be wrestlers despite resistance from the society.
After the success of the movie, the real Phogat girls given many interviews and they also expressed a little bit of sadness that people started recognizing them after the flick despite the fact that they won the medals six years before the release of Dangal.
Gift To Haryana “Akhadas”:
The Haryana government on Sunday said 100 wrestling mats will be provided to ‘akhadas’ in the state following the success of Aamir Khan’s film “Dangal”, based on wrestling. “Dangal” highlights the struggle of a wrestler father to train his daughters into international champions.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who met wrestling champions Geeta and Babita Phogat and their coach-father Mahavir Singh Phogat, on whose lives film “Dangal” is based, to honour them, also said that his government has set up a committee led by the Chief Secretary to streamline the process of giving employment to the state’s outstanding sportspersons.
Geeta said: “I know people knew us by names before also. But it has taken six years after we won the medals for us to get famous. It does feel bad, but the sadness is slowly going away.”
Manohar Lal Khattar said that based on the recommendations of this committee, a new policy for sportspersons would be formulated. On this occasion, he also gave the first-ever “cashless Shagun” to Geeta Phogat who got married recently.
